  Falklands' considering investigation of Stanley Airport future development options

  

  The Falkland Islands' Executive Council has considered a proposal to investigate the future development options for Stanley Airport. A paper put to ExCo by the General Manager Aviation Services and Director of Civil Aviation was described as not a comprehensive review of all the options, but gives approval for the Chief Executive to develop clear terms of reference for a study which can define the realistic potential usage options for Stanley Airport.

  Bank of England's countdown for a Brexit transition deal: Christmas

  

  United Kingdom and Europe must agree on a Brexit transition deal by Christmas or risk banks triggering their contingency plans, the Bank of England has warned. Deputy governor Sam Woods said that while the UK is committed to a implementation period, the EU's position “is not yet clear”.

  When the Brexit referendum result was announced last June, I was working on the Turks and Caicos Islands, one of the UK’s overseas territories in the Caribbean. A collection of about 40 tropical islands, of which eight are inhabited, people there were shocked at the result.   JetSMART offers ultra low rates for Santiago/Punta Arenas beginning 18 December

  

  JetSMART, Chile's ultra low cost airline is planning to link Santiago with Punta Arenas as of next December, charging some 8.000 Chilean Pesos for each leg, plus boarding taxes, 15.500 Pesos, according to the company's CEO Estuardo Ortiz. The exchange rate is approx Pesos 600 to the US dollar.

  Falklands' budget estimated deficit, turns into a strong surplus at the end of the financial year

  

  The Falkland Islands budget performance at the end of the financial year in June will show a considerable surplus, far from the £2 million deficit estimate, according to the government's Head of Finance, Andrew Francis.
