  Lufthansa lands in Falklands with scientists; returns to Germany on Wednesday

  

  Lufthansa’s longest flight ever has landed in the Falkland Islands. The aircraft departed Hamburg at 21:23 on Sunday, landing at Mount Pleasant Complex at 09:00. The flight, which is also the longest flight to have departed Hamburg, clocked in at 15 hours and 36 minutes.

  Maersk Essen, en route from China to Los Angeles lost 750 containers

  

  At least 750 containers were lost from the ship Maersk Essen during its journey between the Port of Xiamen, in China, and Los Angeles, in the United States. According to the maritime consultancy WK Webster, the incident occurred on January 16 and was allegedly caused by the fact that the ship faced adverse weather conditions during navigation.

  Falklands' majestic King penguins at Volunteer Point

  

  STANLEY, Falkland Islands – The Falkland Islands have become a paradise for wildlife enthusiasts. Decades of good management and conversation policies have helped the different species to advance under this shield. One of those, emblematic, and identified to the image and spirit of the Falklands are penguins. Although not included in the Islands' crest they are virtually everywhere, souvenirs, stamps, badges, pictures, T shirts, and particularly in Volunteer Point, relatively close to Stanley, where the majestic King penguins enjoy a growing rookery, shared with their Gentoo and Magellanic cousins.
