    Falklands receives extra pharmaceutical and equipment supplies from UK

    Routine GP and Dental appointments have been suspended. Those affected will be contacted by KEMH.

    With the arrival of extra supplies of pharmaceuticals and equipment on the UK/Falklands Airbridge last Friday evening, the hospital in Stanley, KEMH, has put into effect its well-developed plans for handling Covid 19 cases.

    Falklands provides childcare for essential key workers' children

    All schools and nurseries remain closed until at least the start of the new term on 4 May 2020. All children’s play parks are closed until further notice.

    As of this Monday 30 March, the Falklands' Education Department is providing childcare for the children of essential key workers to enable them to go to work. Parents in this category have been contacted directly. Home learning packs are being delivered to those who were unable to collect them.

    The Falkland Islands government, FIG, is stepping up its response measures to COVID- 19 after it was confirmed that the King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH) is currently treating a critically ill child. Chief Executive Barry Rowland said that although it has not been confirmed, it is suspected that the child has contracted Coronavirus. Under the new phase of the response, schools, nurseries, and play-parks will close as of Friday 27 March and will not re-open until at least the start of the new term on 4 May.
