  Foreign minister Jorge Faurie strongly denied in Congress on Wednesday that the Argentine government was ready to “handover” the disputed Malvinas Islands to the British, and likewise defended the current proximity policy of president Mauricio Macri administration towards the South Atlantic issue.

  “Malvinas Veterans are increasingly recognized for their valor and courage”

  

  The Argentine Army Chief of Staff said he perceives a greater recognition from society towards Malvinas veterans, and this recognition, with time, is increasing. Lieutenant General Claudio Pasqualini made the statement at Wednesday's traditional meeting of the Buenos Aires Rotary Club, which on this occasion had another special guest at his table, British ambassador Mark Kent.

  Call for Evidence: UK program to support nature in British Overseas Territories

  

  A ten week Call of Evidence was launched by the UK Government on Friday, to gather knowledge on safeguarding nature in the UK Overseas Territories. Many of the Overseas Territories are globally significant in their ecological richness, containing over 90% of UK’s marine and terrestrial nature. They are hotspots for biodiversity with an estimated 3,300 endemic species, but they are also highly vulnerable to environmental change.

  Falklands' veteran discharged because of his sexuality suing MoD for the return of his medals

  

  A Falklands veteran forced out of the Royal Navy over his sexuality plans to sue for the return of military honours. Joe Ousalice, 68, served for nearly 18 years but was discharged in 1993 when there was a ban on LGBT people serving in the armed forces.

  Falklands' lawmakers travel to the UK to address a long agenda including Brexit

  

  This month five Falkland Islands lawmakers, elected Members of the Legislative Assembly, according to a release from the Islands' government are travelling to the UK to have a series of key meetings with the oil industry, trade partners and UK parliamentarians, and to reiterate the need for a good deal for the Falkland Islands in the context of continuing Brexit negotiations.

  Eighteen Argentine military officers face torture charges from the Malvinas war

  

  Next June/July eighteen former Argentine officers will be facing formal torture charges, allegedly committed against conscripts during the Falklands conflict 37 years ago, and twelve years since the beginning of the official investigation by the Tierra del Fuego federal court.
