  Today, the death of His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was marked by a 21-gun salute on Victory Green in Stanley at midday. This went alongside a short parade, consisting of a marching detachment provided by the Falkland Islands Defence Force, with His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Nigel Phillips CBE, taking the salute.

  Argentina strongly opposes UK's firing of missiles in the Falklands

  

  Argentina Friday expressed its government's utmost rejection of the announcement by British authorities that missiles were to be launched at the Falkland Islands. The Foreign Ministry warned that the “alleged defensive condition of the British military base in the South Atlantic is not only totally unjustified, but also represents a threat to the entire region.”

  Argentine officers accused for torturing own troops during 1982 war

  

  The Federal Court of Appeals of Comodoro Rivadavia Thursday upheld in a 2-1 vote the arraignment of former Argentine officers Eduardo Gassino, Belisario Affranchino Rumi, Gustavo Calderini and Miguel Ángel Garde for “imposition of torments” on soldiers under their command during the 1982 armed conflict with the United Kingdom over the Falkland Islands.

  Argentina complains of Uruguayan acquiescence to RAF transport aircraft

  Criminal complaint filed in London regarding sale of Argentine ID document

  

  LONDON, UK – A criminal complaint was filed this week with the Metropolitan Police in London regarding the sale of Argentine veteran of the 1982 conflict, Edgardo Esteban’s identity document. The complaint refers to the sale of his ID document by a London auction house and then trading website which according to the complaint is illegal as it was stolen property.

  Falkland Islands and “39 years of peace and progression” on the anniversary of the Argentine invasion

  

  The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) issued on Friday a statement on the 39th anniversary of the Argentine Operation Rosario that “shattered” the peace of Falkland Islanders, marking the beginning of the 1982's Falklands War. “This amphibious invasion marked the beginning of the unlawful occupation of the Falkland Islands, which sought to obliterate every Islander’s fundamental human right to live in a self-determined, democratic society,” the statement continues.
