  Falklands/Malvinas: City of Ushuaia has its logo for the 40th anniversary of the war

  

  The City of Ushuaia has a logo and crest that will represent all activities organized by the city during next year when the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of Malvina's war feat. The institutional image of the anniversary was circulated among some 67,000 residents and neighbours of the city, and finally, some 2,600 voted on the three images that were presented as options.

  Ushuaia creates a Malvinas Affairs Secretariat in the framework of the 40th anniversary

  

  Imbibed with the 40th anniversary of the Falklands conflict spirit, the city of Ushuaia decided to elevate the department which dealt with Malvinas Islands issues, to the rank of Secretariat, thus “reaffirming the will of Ushuaia residents as the capital of Tierra del Fuego, Antarctica and South Atlantic Islands”.

  Falklands member of the Table Tennis Federation, despite Argentina's objection

  

  Argentina lost to the Falkland Islands at the International Table Tennis Federation, ITTF, where overwhelming support had the Islands registered as an independent member. This despite the strong allegations from the Argentine Table Tennis Federation president Fernando Joffre, at the ITTF annual assembly.

  Falkland Islands receives the first cruise visit since 2019/20 season

  

  The first cruise ship to visit the Falklands since the 2019/2020 tourist season, Silver Explorer, was cleared on November 24 and in Stanley Harbor. The itinerary included visits to Bleaker Island and Bull Point. However, it is unknown how many other vessels will visit over the season.

  Research done in Falklands shows albatrosses are “divorcing” because of climate change

  

  A recent Royal Society study shows climate change and rising oceans are pushing black-browed albatross breakup rates higher. Among the world's most devoted monogamous species, they are “divorcing” more frequently. For 15 years, researchers studied a wild population of 15,500 breeding couples in the Falkland Islands, and in effect, only 1 to 3% of couples would separate after picking a partner to pursue more romantic pastures.

  Falkland Islands Company awarded the joint venture housing contract

  

  Following the request for tenders from local and international companies, the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) and the Ministry of Defence (MoD) confirmed that on Wednesday 17 November 2021 the Falkland Islands Company (FIC) successfully signed a joint venture housing contract.

  UK MPs suggest asylum seekers crossing the English Channel be sent to Falklands

  

  According to UK news reports, the British government is becoming quite desperate about the asylum seekers braving the English Channel, a record 25,000 so far this year, and all sorts of radical measures to contain the increase in arrivals are being considered, including sending the refugees south to the Falkland Islands.

  Malvinas Islands' crest in all Tierra del Fuego sportswear and school uniforms

  

  In anticipation of the 40th anniversary of the Falklands/Malvinas War, in 2022, the Argentine Tierra del Fuego province legislative passed several bills making it mandatory that all teams' sportswear in all the different competitions representing the province must have the Malvinas Islands crest, “and hopefully this initiative will also be implemented by other provinces”.
