    Falklands commercial aircraft out of service for six months

    FIGAS are currently in the process of devising a recovery plan and are working with the aircraft manufacturer on a repair plan.

    Following the landing incident on Beaver Island on Monday 11 June 2018, Falkland Islands Government Air Service has reported that the aircraft is currently secured on Beaver Island.

    Falklands has decided on a preferred operator for a second commercial flight

    MLA Barry Elsby confirmed the Executive Council had decided to appoint a preferred airline operator to establish a second weekly air link

    The Falkland Islands Executive Council agreed on Wednesday to appoint a preferred airline operator to provide the second midweek flight between the Falkland Islands and South America.

    Falkland Islands anniversary of Liberation Day on 14 June

    A thanksgiving service will be held in Christ Church Cathedral at 9.45 am.

    To mark the Anniversary of the Liberation of the Falkland Islands from Argentine occupation in 1982, the following programme has been arranged for Thursday 14 June 2018 by the local elected government, Gilbert House.

    FIH Group has seen pretax profit rise 74%

    The Falkland Islands Company unit saw revenue rise 2.4% to 18.3 million and pretax profit 23% to GBP1.3 million.

    Falklands-focused retail and logistics firm FIH Group PLC hiked its dividend on Tuesday after profit and revenue rose amid a much improved performance from its largest unit. For the year ended March, pretax profit widened 74% to GBP3.3 million from GBP1.9 million the year prior. This was after revenue rose 8.2% to GBP43.8 million from GBP40.5 million the year before.

    Falklands fishing companies launch new website and promotional video

    The idea of the event was to further raise the profile of the Falklands fisheries both domestically and internationally effectively re-branding FIFCAS

    The Falkland Islands Fishing Companies Association, (FIFCA) hosted a reception at the Historic Dockyard Museum in Stanley on Thursday the 31st May to launch their new website and promotional video. In attendance were invited guests that included HE the Governor Mr Nigel Phillips CBE along with Members of the Legislative Assembly, representatives of the Falkland Islands Government Fisheries Department, FIFCA members as well as the local media and press outlets.

    Falklands' commercial aircraft experiences minor incident

    FIGAS has a fleet of five Islanders, one of which is a Maritime Patrol aircraft

    The Falkland Islands Government Air Service has informed that at 10:55am on Monday 11 June 2018, a FIGAS plane was involved in a landing incident on Beaver Island. No passengers or crew have been injured however, there is suspected damage to the aircraft.

    Falklands government to focus on family-friendly legislation in 2018/19

    In setting its legislative priorities for the next twelve months, the Falkland Islands Government has signalled an intention to focus on legislation of interest to families. The Islands are internally self-governing, with much law created locally or adapted from elsewhere in the world. The program for the next year was published this week alongside their fiscal budget for the year.
