The Royal Navy’s Antarctic patrol ship encountered an iceberg the size of Bristol as she began her final scientific mission of the season. HMS Protector came across the enormous mass of ice and snow – 11 miles long and five wide – as she returned to the frozen continent for the last time this winter – or summer as it is in the Southern Hemisphere.
Early morning Thursday a helicopter from the Falkland Islands will be lifting ashore from the search and survey vessel Seabed Constructor, a Luxembourg national who suffered head injuries during the capsizing of the French flagged yacht Paradise in the South Atlantic.

Some 900 crew-members are expected to undergo the course, which is being held every day over a two week period.
The Falkland Islands elected government announced on Monday the visit of Argentine next of kin scheduled for 13 March. The release states that following the identification of a further 18 unknown Argentine soldiers, buried at the Argentine military Cemetery at Darwin, a private charter is due to arrive at Mount Pleasant Airport on Wednesday 13 March.
