  Falklands: Sea Harrier and Lynx helicopter arrived on time for Liberation Day

  

  Finally, the Sea Harrier and Lynx helicopter, donated by the UK Defense Ministry have arrived in the Falkland Islands on time for Liberation Day, Friday June 14th. The final destination of the two aircraft is the Lookout Gallery and Exhibition Hall under construction for the local Falkland Islands Museum.

  Falklands, survey shows support for draft Energy Strategy and Implementation Plan

  

  From December 2023 to February 2024, the Falkland Islands Environment Department held a public consultation on the draft Energy Strategy and Implementation Plan. In total, 57 surveys were returned, and further comments were collected through public meetings and sessions with Stakeholders in Stanley and West Falkland.

  The Royal Falkland Island Police would like to inform the public that on Thursday 13 June 2024 between 2:00pm – 3:00pm Ross Road will be closed from Barrack Street up to Reservoir Road junction. There will be no access via Cable Street.

  Argentine Foreign Ministry highlights June 10 Malvinas Sovereignty Day

  

  Argentina's Foreign Ministry issued a statement Monday on the 195th anniversary of the establishment of a garrison known as the Political and Military Command in the Falklands/Malvinas Islands in the name of the Province of Buenos Aires. The settlement remained there until it was displaced in 1833 by a stronger British force. The document reviewed Argentina's claims following that event.

  We need to “Awaken new Depths”: UN invitation on World Oceans Day celebrations

  

  On Saturday the South Atlantic Environment Research Institute, SAERI, invited the Falkland Islands community to celebrate Oceans Day, and create awareness of how much the South Atlantic islands depend on them. According to Resolution 63/111 of December 2008, the UN General Assembly designated 8 June as World Oceans Day. And “Awaken New Depths” is the theme for World Oceans 2024.

  Falklands joins 80th D-Day anniversary with the lighting of a beacon

  

  This Thursday, June 6, the Falkland Islands will also be joining the D-Day 80th Anniversary of the beach landings in Normandy with the lighting of a beacon at 5:15 PM, under the motto of, “A shared moment of celebration”.
