  Argentina grants funds for Phase 3 of identification of combatants fallen in Falklands

  

  Argentina has announced it will finance 130 million Pesos (some US$ 250,000 at the current free market exchange rate) for Project EAAF 2023 which refers to Phase 3 of the Humanitarian Project for the identification of fallen combatants buried in the Falkland Islands.

  Falklands war: Medals for Galician sailors forcibly turned into the crew of a spy vessel monitoring UK Task Force

  

  The Argentine consulate in Vigo, Spain held a ceremony to acknowledge the valor and dedication of two Galician sailors from Vigo and Cangas who were forcibly recruited into the Falklands conflict, 41 years ago, by the Argentine navy when they were about to begin their fishing season in the South Atlantic on board the vessel Usurbil.

  Falklands Veteran and SAMA cofounder honored with the British Empire Medal

  

  A Falklands War veteran has been awarded a British Empire Medal for his voluntary work to help his fellow veterans. Denzil Connick, 66, from Blackwood, was honored in King Charles III’s first-ever Birthday Honors list.

  Falklands implements changes to fuel and power allowances

  

  In October 2022 the Falkland Islands ExCo approved an amendment to the eligibility criteria for Winter Fuel Allowance. This means that from June 2023, people who are eligible for Income Support will now also be eligible for Winter Fuel Allowance.

  Falklands survey to continue with Hydatid control/eradication in the Islands

  

  The tapeworm E.granulosus primarily completes its lifecycle between dogs and sheep, with the intermediate stage in sheep causing hydatid cysts. Humans exposed to tapeworm eggs in dog faeces can also develop hydatid cysts in their liver or lungs and this can make people extremely unwell, and can be fatal if untreated.
