  RFA “Gold Rover” sails for Falklands.

  The Royal Fleet Auxiliary tanker Gold Rover is due to sail from Plymouth tomorrow for a long-term deployment to the South Atlantic and is scheduled to arrive in the Falklands next June. The 11,500-tonne fleet tanker will be based in the Islands until the end of 2004.

  A new international alliance of legal Patagonian toothfishers formed to protect sustainable toothfish resources is offering a reward of $ US 100,000 for information leading to the conviction of fishers, companies, directors or employees involved in illegal fishing operations.

  A second attempt to free the stricken Falklands registered fishing trawler 'Lyn' on the Island of South Georgia has failed.
  
  All hopes now rest with the imminent arrival of tug 'Typhoon' which will try and free the vessel which is aground at the entrance to the Morainne Fjord.

  The University of Magallanes is demanding compensation from the Chilean Agriculture and Livestock Service, SAG, for not having detected on time an outbreak of maedi-visna that ended frustrating the development of an ambitious milk sheep program. SAG monitors and is responsible for the compliance of livestock and agriculture sanitary measures in Chile.

  Second Fishing Trawler Still “Aground”.

  Desperate efforts are being made off the remote Island of South Georgia to save the Falklands registered fishing vessel, 'Lyn' (1,034 gross registered tonnes) which was driven onto rocks, at the entrance to Moraine Fjord, during hurricane force winds late on Wednesday night.
