2002) and participants will be looking to build contacts with the agricultural community in Scotland, profile some of the Islands rural diversification initiatives and business opportunities, as well as provide more general information about the Islands.<

The Falkland Islands, one of the most dynamic Overseas Territories of the United Kingdom, with a population of 2,379, will have a team of six competitors at the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester.
There are tentative plans for the Duke of York, who fought in the Falklands war as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot to visit Argentina, Chile and Uruguay when he travels to the South Atlantic in November.
His itinerary has yet to be finalised and confirmed.
The twentieth anniversary of the end of the Falklands War has been commemorated in the United Kingdom with a series of events which focused on gratitude to the armed forces and especially on the 255 British servicemen who died liberating the Islands.

A service to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Falklands war was held at Falklands Gardens, Gosport, looking out onto Portsmouth Harbour where so many ships sailed in 1982 to liberate the Falklands.
