The mythical English explorer Ernest Shackleton sailed once again. But this time in a forty minutes documentary that was launched a few weeks ago in top movie theaters in United States and Europe. The film was directed by George Butler with mostly British and American actors, but there were also a number of Punta Arenas residents among the logistic crew.
Unlike two years ago, when the Falklands shooting team returned home from the ISLAND GAMES with a Gold, two silver and several bronze medals, the 38 sportsmen and women who competed in 6 sports in the 2001 Games, came back this time empty handed, but with much pride and considerable success to record.

Argentina has won its long campaign to be the headquarters of the Antarctic Treaty. The United Kingdom has dropped its objections on the basis of assurances that Argentina will focus its Antarctic activities on civilian scientific endeavour.
At their London meeting, the British and Argentine Foreign Ministers agreed in principle that their two Governments should exchange notes on carrying out a de-mining feasibility study in the Falkland Islands.
Argentine Minister of Foreign Affairs left this Sunday for a three days visit to London where he will be meeting Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, Armed Forces Minister Adam Ingram and British investors.
Island Games Results
The Falklands team at the Island Games may not be in the medals but they are proving outstanding sports men, women and youngsters, and projecting a favourable image of their country.
Speaking from the Isle of Man, where he is supporting his sporting compatriots at the international Island Games, Falkland Councillor Mike Summers said that although the team has so far won no medals and has suffered at least one humiliating defeat (losing at 9-0 to the Jersey football team), the games have been a great success.
