    Emotivo retorno para un ex soldado argentino

    En 1982 Silvio Katz era un inocente conscripto argentino que de golpe se vio lanzado a una guerra que no podía entender. Era integrante del “Regimiento Tablada” el cual tenía como tarea ofrecer apoyo a otras unidades argentinas en las Falklands/Malvinas mientras esperaban la llegada de los británicos. Katz terminó en Ganso Verde pero afortunadamente sobrevivió una batalla en la cual vio morir a cincuenta de sus compañeros.

    Defense to appeal Pinochet's house arrest.

    Defense lawyers of former military ruler General Augusto Pinochet will go to Court to try to block an order for his house arrest and indictment on murder and kidnap charges.Judge Juan Guzmán reissued the arrest order this week after it was thrown out earlier in January on a technicality.

    Argentina: Fishery policy takes unexpected turn

    Although it remains a highly guarded secret, it is said that the Argentine fishery administration and the Chancellery are drawing up a legal framework that would allow foreign-flagged vessels to fish for squid in Argentine waters. The authorities are also reportedly working on a resolution to allow freezer vessels to operate north of parallel 48 º S.

    Review of the Constitution.

    The public meeting to discuss the current voting system in The Falkland Islands and whether there was a need for constitutional change was held on Tuesday night in the Town Hall. The meeting was chaired by Councillor Summers with the following councillors also in attendance:- Councillors Halford, Cockwell, Cheek, Clifton and Edwards. Chief Executive Dr Michael Blanch was present as were approximately 30 members of the public.
