  UK wants to control South Atlantic access and resources, claims Argentina

  

  Argentina claimed at the CELAC summit in Chile that the UK has converted the Falkland Islands into one of the “most militarized territories in the world” with the sole purpose of exploiting the natural resources of the Islands and control access to Antarctica.

  US team extracts samples from sub-glacial Antarctica lake 800 metres in deep ice

  

  In a first-of-its-kind feat of science and engineering, a US National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded research team has successfully drilled through 800 meters of Antarctic ice to reach a sub-glacial lake and retrieve water and sediment samples that have been isolated from direct contact with the atmosphere for many thousands of years.

  Argentine Jewish community blast agreement on ‘truth commission” with Iran

  

  Argentine Jewish community organizations, DAIA and AMIA strongly rejected on Monday the government of President Cristina Fernandez decision to sign an agreement with Iran for the naming of a special ‘truth’ commission referred to the 1994 attack to a Jewish organization in Buenos Aires which left 85 dead and hundreds injured.

  Falklands’ Battle century commemoration includes an invitation to the German Navy

  

  A committee has been formed to organize the commemoration of the Battles of Coronel and the Falklands in 1914, two decisive events of the First World War which although occurred in the Southern hemisphere had a full impact in the European conflict.Last week some twenty people met in the Parish Hall of the Falkalnds' capital, Stanley to address the issue under the chairmanship of Phyl Rendell.
