UK embassy in Uruguay co-organizes major agriculture academic competition

The British Embassy in Montevideo, Cuti, ARU and ANDE are co-organizing the third edition of Hackathon AGRO which will take place at Expo Prado 2018 on 14-16 September. Hackathon AGRO is an open competition for Uruguayan teams made up of researchers, entrepreneurs and experts in Information Technologies, Agro and Business.

Brazilian right wing candidate picks an Army general as his running mate

Far-right presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro picked an army reserve general on Sunday to be his running mate for Brazil's October elections. Bolsonaro, who is the candidate of the Social Liberal Party, announced his choice of reserve Gen. Hamilton Mourao, who belongs to the right-wing Brazilian Labor Renewal Party.

Brexit deal chances are “60 to 40”; Liam Fox blames EC intransigence

Liam Fox says the chance of a no-deal Brexit is growing, blaming the “intransigence” of the European Commission. The international trade secretary and Brexiteer put the chance of failing to come to an agreement at “60-40”. In a message from Lula read to the party convention in Sao Paulo, he said, “Brazil needs to restore its democracy.” Although serving a 12-year sentence for corruption, Lula, 72, remains by far the frontrunner in opinion polls.
