  Brazil temporarily lowers biodiesel content of diesel, given the strong demand from harvest time

  

  Brazil's National Petroleum Agency, ANP, temporarily reduced the volume of biodiesel blended with diesel sold at the pump to 10% from 12% for the next five days in an emergency move, the country's lead regulator for the oil and natural gas industry said Tuesday.

  Brazil's National Agency for Oil, Natural Gas, and Biofuels (ANP) announced the areas for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas to be made available as part of a new, permanent-offer system. The move covers 846 blocks of 13 sedimentary basins, adding up to some 285,400 square kilometers.

  Petrobras strikes further discovery at giant pre-salt Libra field in Santos basin

  

  Petrobras announced a further hydrocarbon discovery at the giant pre-salt Libra field in the Santos basin, offshore Brazil. The company said that well 3-BRSA-1310-RJS, in the central portion of the block, identified the presence of hydrocarbons in a low-porosity reservoir. This is the fourth well drilled in the Libra area since exploratory drilling began last August.

  PetroRio buys Petrobras 20% concession in Bijupirá and Salema oil and gas fields

  

  Brazil's oil and gas corporation Petrobras on Friday signed with PetroRio S.A. (‘PetroRio’) the contracts for the sale of 20% of its stake in the concessions of Bijupirá and Salema fields, currently operated by Shell. The transaction amounts to US$ 25 million and is subject to adjustments that are common to this type of operation.

  Brazil’s Libra deepwater oilfield expected to yield a million bpd

  

  The Libra deepwater oil field that Brazil plans to auction off Oct 21 will yield minimum output of 1 million barrels of crude per day, the National Petroleum Agency, ANP, said on Friday. That production would be equivalent to half of Brazil's current output of 2 million bpd.
