The Nodosa Shipyard at Marín in the Galician region of Spain has floated off one of the three large factory vessels it has under construction.
The close links between the Falkland Islands and the Galician fishing and shipbuilding industries were outlined by James Bates, Executive Secretary of the Falkland Islands Fishing Companies Association, (FIFCA), who recently attended the Conxemar 2019, in Vigo, Galicia, the largest frozen seafood exhibition in Europe after Brussels.
The stern trawler F/V Argos Cies opened its doors at FIPASS to the general public last Sunday as it became the latest new-build to join the Falkland Islands fishing fleet. Members of the public were given a tour of ship, as were invited guests during a reception held in the evening.
