  The latest data from Argentina's National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) show that the poverty index has reversed a meager 1.4 % during the first half of 2021.

  It's official: 12.7 million Argentines live in poverty, 30.3% of the population

  

  Argentina's official poverty index in the second half of 2016 dropped to 30.3%, an estimated 12.7 million people, from 32.2% in the first half according to the country's stats office Indec. The 30.3% index includes 6.1% of indigence, which is also below the 6.3% of the first half. The drop means that 800.000 people are no longer in the poverty category index.

  Argentine September inflation 1.92% and 25.91% in last twelve months

  

  September inflation in Argentina was 1,92% and reached 25.91% in the last twelve months according to the monthly report from opposition members of Congress, which is based on the average of the country's leading private consultants. Later this week the official Indec rate is expected to be announced, systematically lower than that of the so called Congress index.

  Cristina Fernandez ally union admits 18.8% (7 million) of Argentines are under the poverty line

  

  At least 7 million Argentines, or 18.8% of the population, currently find themselves under the poverty line, with 1.7 million (4.2%) classed as in extreme poverty or indigence, according to a new report from the Argentine Workers' Central (CTA) union headed by the Cristina Fernandez government ally Hugo Yasky.
