Bahrain's leading telecom services operator Batelco Group has appointment Muna Al Hashemi as its new deputy chief executive officer. Having joined Batelco as a trainee graduate in 1994, Al Hashemi held several key roles in Batelco’s various divisions before being appointed as CEO of Batelco Bahrain in August 2015, said a statement from Batelco.
In April this year Cable & Wireless South Atlantic Ltd, along with the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Diego Garcia were acquired by the Batelco Group (*), a leading telecommunications provider to 16 markets spanning the Middle East & Northern Africa, Europe and the South Atlantic and Indian Ocean.
Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC) has completed the disposal of the majority of its Monaco & Islands division, which was announced last December and includes the South Atlantic islands of Falklands, Ascension and St Helena.
Bahrain Telecommunications Co is in talks with Cable & Wireless Communications to buy its assets in Monaco and a host of island nations, including the Falklands Islands, a deal potentially worth around 1 billion dollars, three banking and industry sources said, reported in the Emirates media.
