Brazil’s former Foreign minister Celso Lafer said that Paraguay was ‘arbitrarily’ excluded from Mercosur with a sanction that is not in conformity with the group’s charter and warned Brazil is losing international credibility in supporting Paraguay’s suspension because it is distancing itself from International law.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry confirmed that President Cristina Fernández will for the second consecutive year not attend the AMIA Jewish community association’s memorial to commemorate the anniversary of the terrorist attack on its headquarters, which killed 85 and injured more than 300 in 1994.

Uruguay files in SEC plans to sell up to 5 billion dollars in securities

Uruguay filed a shelf registration with the US Securities and Exchange committee to sell up to 5 billion in US denominated securities. Economy minister Fernando Lorenzo said the filing will allow the government to issue debt when it is convenient for the country and market conditions are favourable.

Spanish vessel allegedly illegally fishing in Argentine waters must pay 1.1 million Euros

The Argentine government confirmed a fine of 5.3 million Pesos (approx 800.000 Euros) and another 300.000 Euros to liberate the forfeited catch on board, mostly squid, of the Spanish flagged vessel ‘Piscator’ caught last 2 July allegedly illegally operating in Argentine waters and which remains retained in Puerto Madryn.
