  UK Antarctic Science Conference at BAS, Cambridge

  

  The British Antarctic Survey, BAS, has announced that the UK Antarctic Science Conference 2024 will take place at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, 1st – 3rd October 2024. The meeting aims to bring together all in the UK who are involved in Antarctic research or the support of Antarctic research.

  Cambridge appeals for the recovery of missing Charles Darwin's notebooks with “Tree of Life” sketches

  

  Two of Charles Darwin-s notebooks containing his pioneering ideas on evolution and his famous “Tree of Life” sketch are missing, believed stolen, the Cambridge University Library said on Tuesday. The British scientist filled the leather notebooks in 1837 after returning from his voyage on the HMS Beagle. The library said they were worth millions of pounds.

  Ice patrol HMS Protector crew to visit the affiliated city of Cambridge

  

  The university city of Cambridge might be more used to punts, but it is about to welcome the crew of a Royal Navy ship. HMS Protector, the Navy's 5.000-ton Antarctic patrol vessel is to visit the region on Monday, marking her first visit to her affiliated city of Cambridge since the formal link was established a year ago.
