  Beijing triggers Marx controversy in Germany with statue donation to his home town of Trier

  

  Chinese gift of a statue of Karl Marx is dividing Germans, as his home town of Trier prepares to unveil it 200 years after his birth. Marx co-wrote the Communist Manifesto, which said that all human history had been based on class struggle. His work remains controversial in Europe but is presented by China as central to its way of governing.

  Argentine president calls for an end to anarchy and a return to “real capitalism”

  

  During Thursday’s meetings of the Group of 20 in Cannes, Argentine President Cristina Fernández for G20 leaders to put a stop to the current “anarchistic economic capitalism” and regulate the markets, not the countries, to go back to what she referred to as “real capitalism” after three years of world economic crisis.

  Chavez warns: if capitalism returns to Venezuela, it’s the end of oil cooperation

  

  President Hugo Chavez confirmed he would run for re-election in 2012 and made a strong call for regional unity warning that “if capitalism returns to Venezuela” it would mark the end of oil cooperation.
