As the cruise industry is again picking up with clients returning, a Finnish shipyard is putting the final touches on what will be the world’s largest cruise ship. According to Travel and Tour World, Royal Caribbean’s luxurious new vessel 'Icon of the Seas' is nearing completion in the Turku shipyard on Finland’s southwestern coast, its maiden voyage scheduled for January 2024.
The world’s cruise fleet is set to grow to more than 375 ships by 2026, based on existing orders and known withdrawals, according to the 2016-2017 Cruise Industry News Annual Report.
Carnival Corporation will retain its leading market share going forward, with more than 40% of the global cruise market by 2026, but down from 44.3% this year, according to the 2016/2017 Cruise Industry News Annual Report. Meanwhile, MSC Cruises will double its market share.
