  Falklands extends domestic tourism incentive program until 31 May, including Easter

  

  The Falkland Islands Government will be extending the Tourism Recovery Incentive Program (TRIP) by two months. The scheme, which was due to end on March 31, will now remain in operation until May 31. Falklands residents will have until that date to redeem their vouchers.

  Uruguay detected 284 new Covid-19 cases on Friday, reaching the record number of 1825 active cases, a few days after the barrier of a thousand cases was overcome and the government of Luis Lacalle Pou announced restrictive mobility measures last Monday.

  Today, as part of a raft of recovery measures designed to support businesses and stimulate economic growth throughout the Falkland Islands during the global pandemic, the island’s government (FIG) is pleased to announce the launch of the Tourism Recovery Incentive Programme – or ‘TRIP’.

  Montevideo received almost a million tourists in 2010

  

  Uruguay received 2.4 million tourists during 2010, 34% of which the capital Montevideo and if the cruise visitors are added the final number jumps to 930.000, according to Luis Polakof, head of the city’s Economic Development Department.
