Supporters of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro staged a rally on Sunday on Paulista Avenue in São Paulo, requesting a blanket amnesty for those convicted or charged with participating in the Jan. 8, 2023, coup attempt, particularly their leader, whom they regard as the better candidate for the 2026 elections, despite being disenfranchised.

A US federal appeals court has ruled by 7 votes to 4 that most of President Donald Trump's global tariffs are illegal because the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA) invoked by the Republican leader does not grant him the authority to do so. The court affirmed that the power to levy tariffs rests exclusively with Congress.

During his recent trip to Brazil, former US Vice President Al Gore said that his country's stance on the climate crisis was “schizophrenic,” changing from one view to another, depending on who ruled. In his first term in office, between 2017 and 2021, Donald Trump withdrew the US from the Paris Agreement, whose main objective is to limit global warming to 1.5°C. But then came Joseph Biden, and the country returned to the agreement, only to pull out yet again with Trump's second term.
