Last Thursday, Alexia Davies, a student from the Falkland Islands, was among students from across the UK Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies representing the voices of young British people across the globe at the UK Youth Parliament Sitting in the House of Commons.

Falklands agrees to education facilities for secondary age children from MPC

Falkland Islands Executive Council (ExCo) has agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) be signed between the Falkland Islands Government (FIG) and the UK Ministry of Defense (MOD) that will allow secondary-age children from Mount Pleasant Complex (MPC) to board at Stanley House and study at the Falkland Islands Community School (FICS) from the start of the 2025 academic year.

New Principal at Falkland Islands Community School

The Falkland Islands Government is pleased to announce the appointment of Amy Marsh as the new Principal of the Falkland Islands Community School. Amy arrived in the Islands in August and will formally take over the role on 21 October 2024 following an excellent handover from outgoing Principal Sebastian St.John.

Falklands' students achieve excellent results in secondary school live examinations

The Falkland Islands Community School is thrilled with this year’s GCSE results - our best set of results from a live examination series. This is the first year of ‘live’ international examinations since before the pandemic and FICS students have had a successful year. Staff and students have displayed determination and resilience to complete the Key Stage 4 studies.

Falklands appoints Headteacher of Community School

The Falkland Islands Government has announced the appointment of Neil Appleby as the new Headteacher for the Falkland Islands Community School. Neil was born in Basingstoke in the South of England and within eleven years he and his family made their way North to County Durham.
