Liz Truss and Macron exchange “flowers” on UK/French relations

French president Emmanuel Macron, on a visit to Algeria, took time to comment on remarks from the most serious candidate to become the next British Prime Minister, Liz Truss, and said he would not “for a second” hesitate to say “the United Kingdom is a friend of France,” despite its leaders or minor mistakes.

France limits terminology for veggie foods: steak and sausage only with real meat

France became the first EU country to ban words like “steak” and “sausage” applied to plant-based food. The decree becomes effective next October and states, “it will not be possible to use sector-specific terminology traditionally associated with meat and fish to designate products that do not belong to the animal world and which, in essence, are not comparable”.
