  Paraguayan Senators said to harass newspeople and activists

  

  According to a statement from The Union of Journalists of Paraguay (SPP), several Senators in the South American country had allegedly harassed newspeople during Monday's session. Other entities grouping reporters were said to have issued concurring declarations whereby the lawmakers would have endangered freedom of expression.

  Brazil says Mercosur/EU to meet in Brussels at the end of May for trade talks

  

  At the end of May Mercosur will be ready to exchange tariff-reduction proposals with the European Union, announced Brazilian Industry minister Mauro Borges who also anticipated the trade block would be holding a preparatory meeting next week in Caracas, Venezuela.

  Paraguay plans to climb from eighth to world's fifth exporter of beef by 2018

  

  One of Paraguay's priorities is to make the country the world's fifth exporter of beef by 2018, according to Industry and Trade minister Gustavo Leite. The land locked member of Mercosur currently holds the eighth position.
