Health care professionals in charge of Maradona booked for murder
All seven health care professionals who were treating Argentine football legend Diego Armando Maradona when he underwent surgery and eventually died have been charged with malpractice and other crimes by a San Isidro (Greater Buenos Aires) court Monday.

Brazilian police returned on Sunday to patrolling Espirito Santo state
More than 1,200 military police returned to patrols in Espirito Santo on Sunday as the n Brazilian state inched toward normalcy after a protest left a security vacuum that fueled a crime wave. Schools in the state (north of Rio de Janeiro) are scheduled to reopen Monday and public transport will resume a full schedule, the president's office said on Twitter.

Venezuela has world's second highest homicide rate: 24.980 killings in the year
Venezuela has the second highest homicide rate in the world, according to a report released by the NGO Venezuelan Violence Observatory. The country's homicide rate for 2014 stood at 82 per 100,000, with a total of 24,980 killings recorded for the year. The figure marked an uptick from the group’s estimate for the year prior, which stood at 79 per 100,000.

Number of homicides in Argentina again on the rise, indicate Healthcare stats
The number of homicides per year in Argentina dropped from a peak of 4.630 back in 2002, but this did not impede that in the following decade that figure totaled, 31.992, according to official stats from the country's Healthcare ministry.
