A senior ISIS leader was killed Monday by US forces in northern Syria, it was announced. The raid targeted Abd-al-Hadi Mahmud al-Haji Ali, who was said to be plotting attacks in the Middle East and Europe, according to the Pentagon.
United Nations experts said on Wednesday they had been unable to find evidence of direct support by the Islamic State for an Islamist militia in eastern Congo. Several Latin American countries have deployed under command of UN, peace-keeping forces, among which Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Guatemala and Uruguay, with more than a thousand personnel.
The Trump administration says US troops are being withdrawn from Syria, after the president said the Islamic State (IS) group had been “defeated”. The Pentagon said it was transitioning to the “next phase of the campaign” but did not give details.
