  HSBC fined 1.9bn for money laundering for drug barons and rogue nations

  

  The US said “dangerous practices” at HSBC allowed the bank to pass money to “drug kingpins and rogue nations”, as it fined it 1.9 billion dollars. HSBC agreed the fine, the largest of its kind, earlier on Tuesday.

  BP pleads guilty to Gulf of Mexico spill and will pay a record 4.5bn

  

  BP Plc agreed on Thursday to plead guilty to a raft of charges in the deadly Gulf of Mexico spill and pay a record 4.5 billion dollars including the biggest criminal fine in United States history. Three BP employees were also charged, two of them with manslaughter.

  United States prosecutors charged eight former Siemens AG executives with paying 100 million dollars in bribes for more than a decade to Argentina officials to help win a one billion dollars contract to produce national identity cards.
