  IMF mission leaves Buenos Aires but talks will continue

  

  The International Monetary Fund's (IMF) team rounded up its mission to Buenos Aires Monday saying that negotiations for a new loan will continue. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva's envoys held meetings with Economy Minister Luis Toto Caputo and other high-ranking officials from the libertarian administration, after which they reckoned that some progress had been made.

  IMF mission arrives in Buenos Aires to discuss US$ 11 billion loan

  

  An International Monetary Fund (IMF) team landed in Buenos Aires Wednesday to discuss Argentina's eligibility for a US$ 11 billion new loan to make up for the South American country's currently negative reserves. The mission is headed by the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department Deputy Director Luis Cubeddu.

  IMF: Argentine debt is not sustainable, a meaningful contribution from private creditors is required

  

  An IMF team, led by Julie Kozack Deputy Director of the Western Hemisphere Department and Luis Cubeddu Mission chief for Argentina, visited Buenos Aires from February 12 to 19, 2020 to discuss the recent macroeconomic developments and learn more about the Argentine authorities’ economic plans and policies.   Cristina Fernández/IMF controversy over the Fund's responsibility in Argentina' flight of capital

  

  Argentine vice-president Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner insisted in her criticism of the IMF for the alleged violation of its statutes by awarding the previous Argentine administration of president Mauricio Macri a disproportionate credit, despite the fact the Fund rejected the accusation and ratified that no debt shaving is possible under its rules.

  IMF mission begins talks in Argentina; Government presented his fiscal plan to Congress

  

  Recession-hit Argentina opened talks on Wednesday with a team from the IMF, seeking relief from what President Alberto Fernandez says is an unsustainable foreign debt. The delegation, led by Julie Kozack and Luis Cubeddu, arrived in Buenos Aires for a week-long visit as left-wing groups staged public protests to demand a suspension of debt payments.

  IMF officials and Argentina's economy minister met in New York on Tuesday for what they called “productive” and “positive” talks as the South American nation looks for help from its main creditor to alleviate a challenging debt situation.

  New IMF head of mission in Argentina, as Macri prepares to step down from office

  

  The International Monetary Fund has named as head of its mission in Argentina, Luis Cubeddu, 53, replacing Italian born Roberto Cardarelli. Cubeddu is knowledgeable in Argentina since he was in Buenos Aires between 2002/04, during a similar financial pre-default situation, as a member of the IMF representation.
