  Mapuche Ancestral Resistance (RAM) leader Facundo Jones Huala has been arrested by Río Negro provincial police in the Argentine city of El Bolsón after being a fugitive from Chile's Judiciary since Feb. 11, 2022.

  Mapuche leader Elisa Loncón, a Ph.D. in humanities holder from the Dutch University of Leiden, has been chosen Sunday to preside over the Constituent Convention which will re-write Chile's new Fundamental Law to replace the current text from 1980 passed under the military dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet.

  Mapuche rebel Jones-Huala gets 9 years in Chilean prison

  

  Argentine Mapuche leader Facundo Jones Huala was sentenced Friday to nine years and one day in jail by a Chilean court in Valdivia. Jones-Huala received a six-year sentence for arson plus three years and one day for illegal possession of a firearm in the context of the 2013 attack at the Pisu Pisué farm in Río Bueno.
