  Falkland Islands appeal to the humanity of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization

  

  Today the Falkland Islands made a heartfelt and very human entreaty to the United Nations Special Committee on Decolonization (C-24). Chair of the Legislative Assembly, MLA Mark Pollard and Deputy Chair MLA Leona Roberts both stood before members of the committee and each delivered an ardent and sincere speech, which spoke of their personal histories as well as their hopes for the future of their children and the Falkland Islands as a whole.

  Falkland Islands mourn the loss of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

  

  The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) announced in a statement “with deep sadness” that the FIG “has today learned of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.” In tribute to the Prince, the Falklands will stage a 21-gun salute on Saturday at noon, followed by a short parade, FIG announced.

  Falkland Islands and “39 years of peace and progression” on the anniversary of the Argentine invasion

  

  The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) issued on Friday a statement on the 39th anniversary of the Argentine Operation Rosario that “shattered” the peace of Falkland Islanders, marking the beginning of the 1982's Falklands War. “This amphibious invasion marked the beginning of the unlawful occupation of the Falkland Islands, which sought to obliterate every Islander’s fundamental human right to live in a self-determined, democratic society,” the statement continues.

  Falklands's FIGAS expands fleet with the delivery of Islander VP-FMC

  

  The Falkland Islands Government Air Service has taken delivery of a brand new BN2B-26 Islander – registration VP-FMC – to add to its existing fleet. This the first new aircraft that the government has purchased in 30 years and represents a significant investment in FIGAS’ expanding operations, the islands' government informed in this statement.

Under the umbrella of a wider approach, the issue also refers to the reiterative problems with some visiting Argentines whose conduct of displaying symbols or disregarding local authorities cause alarm and distress among the local population.
