  FIG Reception in London: “Falkland Islanders still face threats to our very existence from our nearest neighbour”

  

  A special Falkland Islands Government (FIG) London Office 40th anniversary reception was held in the Durbar Court at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office on Wednesday, and brought to a close a year of events marking the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Falkland Islands.

  The round of United Kingdom political parties conferences has commenced and this week at Liverpool was Labour week, with the Falkland Islands government presence larger than normal, to mark this year the 40th anniversary of the war and Liberation.

  As part of the Falklands40 commemorations, the South Atlantic Medal Association 82 Holders were awarded the Freedom of the Falkland Islands.

  Falklands expects air links fully operational for the next tourist season

  

  The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) expects to reestablish commercial air links with Chile early next July, and with Brazil in November in time for the tourist high season, plus the humanitarian flights for the Argentine next of kin of the combatants buried at the Argentine military cemetery in Darwin.
