Uruguay Economy minister resigns over scandal involving flag air carrier Pluna
Uruguay's economy minister Fernando Lorenzo resigned on Saturday in the face of questions over the alleged irregular sale of government-owned airplanes following the closure of Pluna, the country's flag carrier, President Jose Mujica announced at a brief press conference, with no questions taken, next to Vice president Danilo Astori.

Pluna’s seven Bombardiers to be auctioned next 3 September says government
The Uruguayan government announced it will auction next 3 September the seven Bombardier aircraft from the collapsed flag air-carrier Pluna, which was definitively grounded last July 5, announced Public Works and Transport minister Enrique Pintado.

Uruguay’s bankrupt flagship carrier Pluna decided on Tuesday to cancel all flights during 48 hours following an announcement from the union of a two-day strike to protest working conditions and rumours of 200 redundancies.

Canadian Fund Invests in Uruguay’s Flagship Carrier PLUNA
Jazz Air Income Fund has agreed to invest 15 million US dollars for an indirect stake in Uruguay's flagship carrier, Pluna. The fund behind Air Canada's regional affiliate, Jazz Air, said that it will get a one-third, non-voting interest in Latin American Regional Aviation Holding Corp., which owns 75% of Pluna Lineas Aireas Uruguayas. The remaining 25% of Pluna is held by the government of Uruguay.
