    British Armed Forces face consultation review of the Troubles

    Sir Nick said serving and former service personnel should face action for “genuine” wrongdoing, but groundless cases “will not happen on my watch”

    The new head of the armed forces says he will not allow British soldiers to be “chased” by people making “vexatious claims” about their conduct in the Troubles in Northern Ireland. Chief of the Defense Staff General Sir Nick Carter told the BBC serving and former service personnel should face action for “genuine” wrongdoing, but he vowed groundless cases “will not happen on my watch”.

    Falklands: improvements to Mare Harbour jetty completed

    A state of the art jetty which will improve military capability in the Falkland Islands and improve life for personnel on the Islands has been completed by Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). Work to upgrade the jetty in Mare Harbour was officially opened recently by Geoff Robson, DIO’s Chief Operating Officer.

    A suggestion by some British senior Members of Parliament advocating a change of name for the Falkland Islands capital, Stanley to Port Margaret Thatcher in honour of the late Baroness had a strong reply from the local weekly, Penguin News.
