    Argentina: Deal to buy Norwegian P-3s moves forward

    The first Norwegian Orion will hopefully be delivered to Argentina before the end of 2023, it was explained

    With a nod from the United States, Argentine authorities have finally reached an agreement with the Norwegian government for the purchase of four Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion maritime patrol aircraft, Argentine Defense Minister Jorge Taiana and Norwegian Defense Materiel Agency (NDMA) D3 Director Magnus Hansvold announced during a ceremony aboard the Fragata Sarmiento museum ship in Buenos Aires.

    Orkney Islands councilor feels Scotland has failed them dreadfully and suggests joining Norway

    The Orkney Islands could change their status in the UK or even become a self-governing territory of Norway under new proposals. A motion will go before the council next week to investigate “alternative forms of governance”. Council leader James Stockan said Orkney does not get fair funding with its current relationship with the UK.

    Argentina to buy 4 P-3s from Norway

    Argentina's Defense Ministry agreed to purchase four long-range Lockheed Martin P-3 Orion aircraft from Norway at a cost of US$ 67 million to increase the South American country's patrolling capabilities in the South Atlantic, it was reported Friday in Buenos Aires.

    Soaring gas price helped Norway triple its hydrocarbons tax revenue

    The high natural gas prices drove record tax revenue from petroleum companies which “has never been anywhere near as high as it is now,” said the Norwegian Tax Administration

    Soaring gas prices in 2022 means that the Norwegian Tax Administration will collect a record US$ 89,5 billion, triple the previous record of 2021, according to the tax revenue office. Likewise it has revised upwards petroleum revenue by 20%.

    The majestic Norwegian tall ship marked the end of Ushuaia's cruise season

    With the departure on Monday of the Norwegian flagged three-mast tall ship Statsraad Lehmkuhl, Ushuaia, extreme south of Argentina, considered the “successful” 2021/22 cruise season over.     Icelandair's 42 hours flight to Antarctica and home again

    In its presentation, Icelandair says it usually flies closer to the Arctic Circle, but on this occasion, the trip was 4 days and 42 flight hours from the top of the world to the bottom, and home again. On Friday, February 26, an Icelandair Boeing 767 (TF-ISN), landed at Troll airfield (QAT) at the Troll research station operated by the Norwegian Polar Institute in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica.
