The P&O Cruises ship Britannia, based in Southampton, collided with a freight vessel during a storm in Mallorca, Spain, after it broke loose from its mooring. A small number of people are being cared for onboard after sustaining minor injuries, P&O said.
The biggest ship designed exclusively for Britain, Britannia called at Gibraltar on Tuesday and is due to return for a formal inaugural call on March 17. The vessel is P&O Cruises latest “modern classic”, heralding what it calls a new era of holiday choice.
P&O Cruises has confirmed that Her Majesty The Queen, accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, will name the new P&O Cruises vessel Britannia at Ocean Terminal, Southampton, SO14 3QN, on Tuesday March 10, 2015.
