  Royal Navy incorporates state of the art mine hunting operations vessel

  

  A specialist ship bought to support Royal Navy mine-hunting operations – a mother ship to launch drones to find and destroy undersea threats – has arrived in Plymouth. When deployed, the platform will support the safeguarding of UK waters from the threat of mines at sea, operating a range of uncrewed systems that will help keep personnel at a safe distance.

  Lord Mayor of Plymouth presented with Falklands' flag during commemorations

  

  Double commemoration in Plymouth's HMS Raleigh at a ceremony recalling the Falkland Islands' Liberation Day. For one, the Islands' flag is flying throughout British Armed Forces Week, recognition of the sailors, Royal Marines and soldiers who sailed from the city 39 years ago to liberate the South Atlantic archipelago.

  UK fishermen day of fury over Brexit “abject betrayal”: UK waters control delayed from 2019 to 2021

  

  English fishermen are taking part in a day of protests against what they say is an “abject betrayal” over Brexit. Protesters gathered in Plymouth, Whitstable, Hastings, Portsmouth, Milford Haven and Newcastle. Fishermen say promises of immediate control over UK waters on leaving the EU next year have been dropped.
