  The Bermuda flagged “Star Princess” called on Monday at the Argentine Patagonia port of Puerto Madryn with over 2.400 passengers and 1.200 crew members. This is the second time in the current season the 290 metres long cruise vessel docks in Puerto Madryn and the first this year, reports the local media.

  Argentine Coast Guard arrests two Chinese jiggers off Puerto Madryn

  

  The Argentine Coast Guard arrested on Christmas after fining some intimidatory shots, two Chinese flagged jiggers illegally fishing in Argentina’s South Atlantic Economic Exclusive Zone off the Chubut province coast, according to an official report released Wednesday.

  P&O cruise vessels choose Falklands over Ushuaia, Puerto Madryn and Buenos Aires

  

  P&O, a subsidiary of Carnival Corporation Plc and one of the world’s leading cruise operators will be omitting Puerto Madryn, Ushuaia and Buenos Aires from its 2013 season because of the difficulties encountered by its red ensign vessels in Argentine ports during recent months. However the company confirms that the vessels will continue to call in the Falkland Islands.

  Protecting the whales from aggressive scavenger seagulls in Puerto Madryn

  

  Saving the whales is something Argentines take so seriously that authorities are planning to shoot seagulls that have developed a habit of attacking the huge marine mammals. But environmentalists say the plan is misguided because humans are the real problem, creating so much garbage that the seagull population has exploded, endangering the whales.

  Puerto Madryn welcomes all cruise vessels; Ushuaia tourism industry blasts the governor

  

  The Patagonian province of Chubut said that contrary to what happened earlier this week in Tierra del Fuego, there is no ban on any cruise vessel flag and all are welcome to dock and make use of the provincial ports’ services, particularly Puerto Madryn which belongs to the South Atlantic sea tourism circuit.
