  A repeat of Shackleton’s epic Southern Ocean crossing reaches South Georgia

  

  An expedition replicating Ernest Shackleton's 1916 perilous crossing of the Southern Ocean from Antarctica in a small boat has made landfall after a 12-day journey. Led by renowned adventurer Tim Jarvis, the team of six reached Peggotty Bluff on rugged South Georgia, where they landed their vessel in the same place Shackleton and his men beached the James Caird nearly 100 years ago.

  Ship linked to Captain Scott’s failed South Pole expedition found off Greenland

  

  The wreck of the ship that carried Captain Robert Scott on his doomed expedition to the Antarctic a century ago has been discovered off Greenland. The SS Terra Nova was found by a team from a US research company.

  Norwegian expedition unable to re-edit Amundsen’s South Pole 1911 feat

  

  The Norwegian expedition which was planning to celebrate the centenary of the South Pole discovery by Ronald Amundsen failed in their last leg of their mission with two of them abandoning and the other two not reaching on time for Wednesday’s party with Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.
