  Falklands, visit from Shetland salmon expert

  

  Shetlands’ author and former fish farmer John Goodlad visited the Falklands this week to give a public talk, at the invitation of Unity Marine (*). The expert advisor for two seafood investment funds and three times author, spoke about his latest publication, ‘Food from the Sea: The Future of Seafood’. Falklands TV talked with him about his experiences and views on the future of sustainable seafood and the potential for salmon farming in the Falklands.

  Scottish fishermen want full control of fishing grounds after Brexit

  

  Scottish fishermen have hit out at the EU after the body's guidelines for the next phase of Brexit talks called for continued access to fishing grounds. The EU's draft guidelines for the forthcoming talks aim for “existing” access to waters to be maintained. But Scottish fishing groups call this “arrogant, absurd and nonsensical”.

  Falklands’ mission to learn from the oil experiences of Norway and Shetlands

  

  Senior members from the Falkland Islands government have left for Norway and the Shetland Islands on an experiences-fact-finding mission as the Islands prepare for oil production in the near future.

  A numerous delegation from the Falkland Islands Chamber of Commerce is on its way to Scotland for a five day high-profile meeting with peers from Aberdeen and the Shetland Islands which begins next May 8.
