  Trawler operating in Falklands' waters is in Montevideo with positive COVID-19 cases

  

  An Indonesian crewmember from the Spanish flagged trawler “Playa de Galicia”, operating in the South Atlantic, died of Covid-19 and the vessel is currently in the port of Montevideo under quarantine conditions, with several other seamen hospitalized, according to the latest news from Uruguay and Spain, which have been difficult to confirm.

  Ushuaia satisfied with the resurgence of its fishing industry

  

  During the first half of the year, (Jan/Jun), 29,500 tons of fish products were landed at the port of Ushuaia which represents 53% over the same period a year (19,250 tons), according to the latest stats from Argentina's Fisheries Under Secretariat. Officials from Tierra del Fuego point out that much can be attributed to the fact that April 2020 was a “completely dead month”, because of the pandemic.

  Falklands puts in practice quarantine options and warns about symptoms of Delta variant

  

  Falkland Islands' Executive Council, ExCo, approved on Thursday a further change to quarantine measures for people travelling to the Falkland Islands by air with the introduction of a new 5-day‘ test to release’ option. This initiative was identified during the latest six-week review of quarantine arrangements, in line with the requirements of the Infectious Diseases Control Regulations 2020, as well as in light of the Covid-19 vaccination status of the community.
