  UK/South Korea sign in principle, first a post-Brexit free trade agreement

  

  The UK and South Korea have signed an in principle free trade agreement (FTA) that seeks to maintain existing trade arrangements post-Brexit. International Trade Secretary Liam Fox signed the deal with his South Korean counterpart Yoo Myung-hee in Seoul.

  US Treasury monitoring list of countries with large trade surplus and possible currency manipulation

  

  The US Treasury expanded the number of countries subject to scrutiny in a semi-annual report released this week, but again found that neither China nor any other trading partners was manipulating its currency. The treasury urged the Asian giant to avoid allowing the renminbi to weaken persistently - which would give its products a more competitive advantage.

  Digital sex crime epidemic in South Korea; secret filming of some 1.600 hotel rooms

  

  Four men have been arrested in South Korea, accused of secretly filming 1,600 hotel room guests and selling the footage via a website. Mini-cameras were installed in TVs, hair-dryer holders and sockets. The men allegedly earned US$ 6,200.

  Foot and mouth disease spreads to the whole of the Korean peninsula

  Brazilian consortium interested in Ford's Sao Paulo manufacturing plant

  Religious Freedom: Human Rights Organizations calls for shutdown of the Korea’s Christian Council

  

  On January 27, 30,000 people gathered in at Seul’s Gwanghwamun Square in a rally coordinated by the Global Citizens' Human Rights Coalition. People from civil society organizations and religious groups came together calling the Christian Council of Korea (CCK) to be held accountable for their ”unconstitutional actions and ultimately shut down,” local media reported.

  Argentine navy will incorporate a South Korean frigate for ocean patrolling

  

  The South Korean navy has started the documentation for the transfer of a decommissioned Ulsan Class frigate to the Argentine navy. A delegation of Argentine officers and crew members will be travelling to the South Korean base at Jinhae in the near future, according to Seoul's military attaché in Buenos Aires Lieutenant Colonel Ho Lim.
