A 15,600-year-old footprint discovered in southern Chile is believed to be the oldest ever found in the Americas, according to researchers.
The Chilean University of La Frontera with support and financing from Japan's International Cooperation Agency (JICA), will attempt to develop an unprecedented early warning system that makes it possible to monitor, predict and detect the outbreaks of red tide in southern Chile. JICA is contributing with almost US$ 4.5 million.
GeoPark Holdings has revealed the discovery of the new Palos Quemados gas field on the Tranquilo block in Chile in the southern region of Magallanes. The Palos Quemados field is the first gas discovery in the Tranquilo Block by GeoPark and the first hydrocarbon discovery in the Magallanes Fold and Thrust Belt in more than 40 years.
