  Noboa extends state of emergency and curfews in parts of Ecuador

  

  Ecuador's President Daniel Noboa Friday extended for another 30 days the state of emergency in six provinces and one canton given the “serious internal commotion” due to criminal violence. Noboa's decree provided for the extension of the measure in force since July 2 in Los Rios, Guayas, Santa Elena, Manabi, and El Oro, as well as in the Amazonian province of Orellana and the canton (municipality) Camilo Ponce Enríquez, in the province of Azuay.

  Six people have been arrested in Ecuador late on Thursday in connection with the killing of presidential candidate Fernando Villavicencio following a political rally a day earlier.

  State of emergency spread to other Peruvian departments

  

  At least 26 people were arrested, including an underaged suspect, late Saturday in Lima amid new demonstrations against the government of President Dina Boluarte, it was reported. Five people -4 protesters and 1 police officer- also needed to be hospitalized due to the injuries sustained during the street clashes in which law enforcement used pellets and teargas. Several journalists have denounced having been beaten by the Police trying to control peasant unions, private organizations, and student groups.

  State of Emergency in Chile: 81.56% in favor of it

  

  As the State of Emergency currently in force in Chilean Regions where armed conflicts are going on with alleged Mapuche rebels in arms in coming to an end next Tuesday, 81.56% of people were in favor of it being renewed by Congress, a Citizen Consultation in La Araucanía showed Sunday.
