    Falklands, Broadband Support Packages for households, begins February

     The most affordable internet package available from February 2026 onwards will be £50 a month, and FIG recognizes that this may not be affordable for some households

    The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) is pleased to update the public on the introduction of Broadband Support Packages, linked to the changes to VSAT licensing announced at the end of October. From 1 February 2026, eligible households will be able to sign up, via FIG, to receive a subsidized unlimited broadband package from Sure South Atlantic (Sure).

    Falklands Government and Sure reach VSAT Licensing Agreement

    Sure will launch two unlimited residential broadband packages priced at £50 and £115 a month, exclusive of line rental, for unlimited use

    The Falkland Islands Government (FIG) and Sure South Atlantic (Sure) have reached an agreement to allow Sure to continue to discharge its universal service obligations under its exclusive telecommunications licence, alongside the more permissive VSAT licensing scheme approved by Executive Council in June this year.

    Falklands, the VSAT Public Consultation Period Extended by a month

    FIG has agreed to a request for an extension to the current public consultation to ensure that the consultation process is as complete and inclusive as possible.

    Falklands, Executive Council decision on VSAT Select Committee recommendations

    ExCo is minded to approve a revised policy rationale for the issuing of VSAT licenses and setting of fee levels, pending a public consultation to be carried out by FIG
