    King Charles III and Queen Camilla crowned in moving ceremony

    Thousands camped for days outside Buckingham Palace for a chance to greet King Charles III and Camilla when they appeared on the balcony

    Charles III and his wife Camilla were crowned King and Queen Saturday at Westminster Abbey, during a historic ceremony not seen since 1953 when the late Elizabeth II accessed the throne. Most people camped joyfully for days outside Buckingham Palace waiting for the opportunity to greet the sovereign despite the rainy weather. But there were also some unruly demonstrations against the monarchy, which led to some arrests, it was reported from London.

    On Monday members of the royal family attended a service at Westminster Abbey to celebrate Commonwealth Day. As well as a message from Queen Elizabeth II, the service also featured speeches from heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua and performances by singers Craig David and Alexandra Burke.

    World tributes to Professor Hawking at his Westminster Abbey memorial service

    Prof Hawking died in March, aged 76, after a long battle with motor neurone disease.

    Tributes have been paid to renowned physicist Prof Stephen Hawking in a Westminster Abbey memorial service. British actor Benedict Cumberbatch, who played Hawking in a BBC drama, and astronaut Tim Peake were among those giving readings at the ceremony.

    “Lights out” event marked 100 years ceremonies since Britain entered World War One

    The event was inspired in Foreign Secretary Sir Edward, who said on the eve of WW1: “The lamps are going out all over Europe; we shall not see them lit again in our lifetime.”

    A candle-lit vigil at Westminster Abbey and a “lights out” event have concluded a day of ceremonies marking 100 years since Britain entered World War One. People were invited to turn off their lights for an hour until 23:00 BST, the time war was declared on 4 August 1914.
