    “Smoko” in London to promote Falklands' tourism attractions

    The Falkland Islands Tourist Board (FITB) hosted a Falklands themed 'Smoko' event yesterday to introduce media and trade contacts to all that these fascinating Islands have to offer. Smoko is a term Falkland Islanders use for a tea/coffee and snack break and the word was originally used by sheep shearers for a cigarette break.

    Madonna's tour includes second show in Santiago

    A second Madonna show with her “Sticky and Sweet” tour has been confirmed in Santiago de Chile for December 11. Her first presentation is scheduled for Wednesday December 10 and for both shows there will no special ticket pre-sale, with a maximum of six per person. Sales begin next September 10.

    South Georgia Island visited by 8.000 cruise ship pax

    Analysis of the figures from the 2007/8 tourist season shows that tourism to South Georgia in the South Atlantic continues to increase. Sixty-four cruise ship visits were made by 29 different vessels (13 more visits than last year), bringing more than 8000 cruise ship passengers.
